Former Colts Coach Tony Dungy Doesn't Want Minnesota Coaching Job

This past Saturday, Rob Henry and the Purdue Boilermakers ran all over the Minnesota defense. As a result, the next morning the Minnesota athletic department ran their coach, Tim Brewster, right out of town. Brewster was fired Sunday after guiding the Golden Gophers to a 1-6 start.

Almost immediately after firing Brewster, Minnesota athletic director Joel Maturi contacted former Indianapolis Colts head coach and Minnesota alum Tony Dungy about replacing Brewster. Dungy, who has been retired from coaching football since the end of the 2008 NFL season, declined Maturi's offer.

From AP, via the Indianapolis Star:

Maturi says Dungy told him he doesn't want to get back into coaching but added that Dungy offered to help the school find a suitable replacement for Brewster.

Maturi says he will lean on Dungy and other prominent alumni for help through the process, but ultimately the choice will be his alone.
