After losing at home by 17 to archrival Indiana on Saturday many people did not expect much from the Purdue Boilermakers against Big Ten leading Ohio State Tuesday night. Through one half, they are hanging in there against the No. 3 team int he land.
D.J. Byrd has 17 points for Purdue and is a perfect 5 for 5 from long range. Lewis Jackson has also played improved basketball off the bench, as Matt Painter benched him and fellow senior Ryne Smith from the starting lineup.
The highlight of the game so far was a ridiculous dunk by Kelsey Barlow over Big Ten Player of the Year candidate Jared Sullinger. Barlow drove the lane and had a ruthless throw down on the big man:

Boilermakers Vs. Buckeyes Final: Ohio State Survives 87-84
In the last 56 home games for the Ohio State Buckeyes they had lost just once before facing Purdue on Tuesday night. The Boilermakers got them 60-57 in 2010, and Oho State has not lost since. The Boilermakers came in and gave them quite a ballgame before William Buford took over int he final minutes.
Buford scored seven straight points to break a 73-73 tie with 4:42 left and helped the Buckeyes survive with an 87-84 win over Purdue for their 39th straight home victory.
The Buckeyes benefited from several questionable foul calls that allowed Jared Sullinger to make a steady parade to the free throw line. He finished with 18 points, but it was Buford's 29 that was a major difference. Buford corralled a loose ball with 42 seconds left and went coast to coast for a dunk to make it 83-76.
D.J. Byrd had a career high 24 points for Purdue while Kelsey Barlow and Lewis Jackson had 14 each. Robbie Hummel finished with 13, but continued to struggle by going 4 of 13 from the floor.
