War In the Big Ten! Indiana Rocked At Home By Illinois, 43-13

Champaign, IL (Sports Network) - Nathan Scheelhaase threw for 123 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Illinois Fighting Illini to a 43-13 victory over the Indiana Hoosiers in a Big Ten Conference tilt at Memorial Stadium.

Scheelhaase completed 13-of-21 pass attempts to pace Illinois (4-3, 2-2 Big Ten) in the victory, while Mikel Leshoure led the Fighting Illini ground attack with 77 yards and a score on 17 totes.

Ben Chappell threw for 279 yards with one touchdown and three costly interceptions in the loss for Indiana (4-3, 0-3), while Ted Bolser caught four passes for 77 yards and a score for the Hoosiers.

The Fighting Illini struck first in this one, as Derek Dimke connected on a 28-yard field goal early in the opening period of play.

The Hoosiers responded late in the quarter, taking a 7-3 lead on a 22-yard toss from Chappell to Bolser.

But the Fighting Illini reclaimed the lead just minutes later, as Scheelhaase completed a 29-yard strike to Evan Wilson.

Scheelhaase gave the Fighting Illini a 17-7 lead early in the second quarter, this time finding Jarred Fayson with a 17-yard scoring toss.

Patrick Nixon-Youmon gave the Fighting Illini a 24-7 advantage minutes later with a 68-yard interception return for a score.

The Hoosiers added a 19-yard Mitch Ewald field goal late in the frame, but the Fighting Illini tacked on a 29-yard Dimke kick in the final seconds of the half to take a 27-10 lead into the break.

The Fighting Illini extended their advantage to 29-10 with a blocked punt for a safety early in the third quarter.

The Hoosiers added a 21-yard Ewald field goal late in the stanza.

Leshoure found the end zone for the Fighting Illini late in the final period of play, while a 66-yard interception return for a touchdown by Jonathan Brown with under a minute iced a 43-13 win.
