In 49 other states, it's just sports.
The summer of NCAA infractions keeps on rolling, as Yahoo! Sports Charles Robinson reported Tuesday that the NCAA will hold a 3:00 PM ET News Conference today to discuss possible rule infractions by LSU:
The NCAA has a 3 pm conference call today to discuss a committee on infractions decision regarding LSU. Stay tuned.
This stems from former recruit Akiem Hicks, who the school never let play in a game for fear that they'd have to forfeit games, and the former Assistant Coach D.J. McCarthy, who was the main recruiter for Hicks. Also adding fuel to the fire is LSU's involvement with Willie Lyles, who was found to have been paid $25,000 from Oregon for "information" on recruits, and is also subject to an NCAA investigation that is still ongoing, with Ducks Head Coach Chip Kelly at the center of the controversy.
Of course, the biggest news on the infraction front this summer came from Columbus, where Jim Tressel stepped down as Head Coach at Ohio State after it was reported that there was more to potential rules violations than the "tattoos for money" that broke in December of last season. They have since vacated all wins, along with their Sugar Bowl victory over Arkansas, from 2010.
