College Basketball Rankings: Louisville Moves Into AP Top 25 As Indiana Drops

The latest college basketball rankings were released on Monday afternoon and, in a move that shouldn't surprise the fans following the basketball teams that SB Nation Indiana follows, there weren't a lot of wholesale changes. Both the Indiana Hoosiers and Louisville Cardinals did move in the Associated Press's Top 25, however, to reflect last week's action.

The Cardinals moved into the official rankings on the heels of their four-game winning streak, moving up from 27 to 24. With 112 total votes, they barely edged out Harvard -- the Crimson Tide finished with 105 votes -- but they're quite far from the 23rd spot.

In a fun segue, the team ranked one slot ahead of the Cardinals is none other than the hometown Hoosiers. Indiana dropped three spots in this week's rankings with 227 total votes, but it's likely they could move right back up if they're able to pile together a win versus a ranked team in the near future.

College Basketball Rankings: Indiana, Louisville Struggling In Coaches Poll

The USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll is out, offering up some shakeups in the top ten and even more of them near the bottom. While Kentucky still holds all of the first-place votes to take the No. 1 spot and Syracuse, Ohio State and Missouri occupy the next three, the changes begin at No. 5, where Duke has fallen down to No. 9 and North Carolina has jumped up from its sixth-place tie with Baylor to enter said top five. Florida and Murray state move into a No. 7 tie, while Kansas rounds out the top ten at No. 10.

Near the bottom of the list, we've got the Indiana teams struggling to maintain their position. Though they occupy the bottom two spots, both Louisville and Indiana are tied for No. 23, with only Michigan beneath them at No. 25.

Indiana started of the season very well, nearing the top five and generally playing upset with wins over the then-No. 1 Kentucky and then-No. 2 Ohio State, but then rattled off three-straight losses in January and have alternated wins and losses since then. They were winners in their last outing, but have dropped their last three matches against ranked competition, losing to Michigan, Wisconsin and OSU over it's last seven games. Their remaining schedule only includes one ranked opponent though, the Spartans at the end of February.

Louisville has won its last four games, getting back on a winning streak, something they've sorely needed since suffering their first loss of the season on Dec. 28. They would go on to lose another game, and then alternate wins and losses until the current winning streak. They've got two matchups with Syracuse on the horizon that will affect where they stand when it's all said and done.
