Colts Sign Javarris James, Edgerrin's Cousin And Training Camp Cut

The Indianapolis Colts signed running back Javarris James today, the cousin of former Colts standout running back Edgerrin James.

James spent the entire preseason with the Colts, but has had a tumultuous few weeks since failing to make the 53-man roster as the Associated Pressexplains.

He was released Sept. 4 and joined the New England Patriots’ practice squad two days later. James was released Tuesday night by the Patriots, and was immediately signed to the Washington Redskins’ practice squad. After practicing Wednesday with the Redskins, the Colts signed him to the active roster. That’s three teams in three days.

It’s pretty difficult to read into what this means for the Colts because, frankly, it could mean a few different things.

I’ll vote that they just like the way he spells Javarris.

Colts S Melvin Bullitt Out For Season With Broken Bone In Right Shoulder

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Colts Safety Melvin Bullitt suffered a broken bone in his right shoulder Sunday vs. Jacksonville, ending his season.

Colts S Melvin Bullitt, Bob Sanders' replacement and Indy's special team captain, is out for season with broken bone in his right shoulder.

This is a major blow to the Colts, as Bullitt was an injury replacement for Bob Sanders, and a vital member of the Colts Special Teams.  Look for DaJuan Morgan and Brandon King, just coming back from injury, to fill in for Bullitt.

Colts Sign Kenneth Moore and Aaron Francisco, Promote Mike Newton From Practice Squad, Cut Mitch King

On the same day the Colts announced that starting safety and special teams captain Melvin Bullitt is done for the 2010 season with a shoulder injury, the team also placed kick returner Devin Moore on injured reserve with a ‘nerve’ injury.

Pro Football Talk has details of Moore’s injury:

The team also has announced that running back Devin Moore suffered a "brachial plexus injury" against the Jaguars, and that he’ll be placed on injured reserve. Per the Mayo Clinic’s website, a "brachial plexus injury" constitutes an injury to the bundle of nerves that send signals from the spine to the shoulder, arm, and hands.

The Colts signed receiver Kenneth Moore to replace Devin Moore as the kick returner. Indy also re-signed safety Aaron Francisco and promoted safety Mike Newton from the practice squad. Francisco was on the Colts roster last year as a reserve safety, and was noted as a solid special teams player.

To make room for Newton and Francisco on the active roster, the Colts have cut defensive tackle Mitch King.
