Can the Steelers make it three wins in a row in Houston? Can the Bills and Lions go on the road and improve their record to 4-0? Will the Patriots bounce back after blowing a 21-0 lead to Buffalo last week? All storylines in Week 4 of the NFL.
Oct 2, 2011 - The AFC has several key match-ups this weekend highlighting the NFL Week Four schedule. Here's your full schedule of games, lines, and picks for Week 4:
Lions (+1.5) at Cowboys, 1:00 PM, FOX: The Cowboys needed six field goals to beat the Redskins on Monday night, but they are going to need more than that to beat the undefeated Lions. Should be one of the better games of the day, with the Cowboys scoring a late TD to win. Cowboys 30, Lions 24
Panthers (+7) at Bears, 1:00 PM, FOX: Cam Newton is going to get his biggest test to date against a Bears defense that still ranks in the top 5 in the league. The Bears should control the game throughout and get the victory in a low-scoring affair. Bears 17, Panthers 7
Saints (-7) at Jaguars, 1:00 PM, FOX: The Saints offense has been nearly unstoppable so far this season, scoring 40 points last week against an improved Texans team. The Jaguars don't didn't show much offensively last week in rookie Blaine Gabbert's first start, but look for them to play a little better at home. This line looks to be about right. Saints 31, Jaguars 24
Titans (-1) at Browns, 1:00 PM, CBS: The Titans and Browns are booth a surprising 2-1 on the season, mostly because of their defenses. Look for Chris Johnson to finally start earning his big contract this week, with the Titans winning in a squeaker. Titans 24, Browns 23
Bills (-3) at Bengals, 1:00 PM, CBS: The Bills are getting quite good at mounting huge comebacks, 18+ points in each of the past two weeks, to pull off victories. They won't need that kind of comeback against the Bengals, as they should win easily, taking their record to 4-0. Bills 31, Bengals 21
Vikings (-3) at Chiefs, 1:00 PM, FOX: The Vikings became the first team in NFL history to lose three games in a row after holding double digit leads at halftime in all 3. They've forgotten to feed Adrian Peterson in the second half, which won't happen this week. However, the Chiefs see this as one of their few opportunities to win this season, as injuries have killed them already. Vikings 21, Chiefs 20
49ers (+9) at Eagles, 1:00 PM, FOX: The Eagles have been the biggest disappointment so far this season, sitting at 1-2, and QB Michael Vick has a bruised, possibly broken right hand. The 49ers have beaten two of the worst teams in the NFL so far this season in the Seahawks and Bengals, so take the Eagles big Sunday. Eagles 28, 49ers 12
Redskins (-2) at Rams, 1:00 PM, FOX: The Rams have not looked good so far this season at all, and were blown out last week by the Ravens. The Redskins kept the Cowboys offense out of the end zone, but lost anyway. The Redskins are better than people expected, thanks in large part to the play of QB Rex Grossman. Redskins 16, Rams 12
Steelers (+4) at Texans, 1:00 PM, CBS: If this line had been set before the season, I think the reverse could have been true. The Steelers haven't looked impressive so far this season, with wins coming over the Seahawks and Colts, but the Texans' two wins have come against the Colts and Dolphins, two winless teams. Don't be fooled by the line, and take the road team. Steelers 31, Texans 26
Falcons (-5) at Seahawks, 4:05 PM, FOX: The Falcons are a disappointing 1-2 on the season, and have to travel to the Northwest to take on the Seahawks, who got their first win last week against Arizona. The Falcons talent should make this an easy win, even in a hostile environment. Falcons 31, Seahawks 13
Giants (-1) at Cardinals, 4:05 PM, FOX: The Giants put a hurting on division rival Philadelphia last weekend, and look to continue their winning ways out in Phoenix. The Cardinals haven't looked good so far this season, and will struggle once again this week at home. Giants 23, Cardinals 7
Broncos (+13) at Packers, 4:15 PM, CBS: The defending Super Bowl Champs are rolling again this season, winning their first three. They should have no trouble with a Broncos team that lost a heartbreaker last week to the Titans. The calls for Tim Tebow will grow louder. Packers 35, Broncos 10
Patriots (-6) at Raiders, 4:15 PM, CBS: The Patriots, much like the Raiders the week before, couldn't find a way to stop the Buffalo offense in the second half last week, and lost to the Bills for the first time since 2003. Now they head cross-country, where they'll have to stop Darren McFadden and the Raiders, who looked impressive beating the Jets last week. The Patriots rarely lose two in a row, so that's the way we'll go. Patriots 31, Raiders 17
Dolphins (+7.5) at Chargers, 4:15 PM, CBS: While the Chargers are 2-1, they've beaten two teams that still don't have a win, and would make it three with a victory over the Dolphins. Miami last in the final seconds in Cleveland last week, and are struggling to find an identity offensively. Chargers 28, Dolphins 17
Jets (+4) at Ravens, 8:25 PM, NBC: Two of the premiere defenses will do battle on Sunday night, and at this point in the season it's tough to tell which team is playing better. The Ravens rolled the Rams last week, but laid an egg to the Titans the week before. The Jets beat up on a bad Jaguars team, but couldn't stop the run last week in Oakland. Look for a tight game decided at the end. Jets 20, Ravens 19
Colts (+10.5) at Buccaneers, Monday 8:30 PM, ESPN: Despite being 2-1, the Bucs haven't put up impressive numbers this season, especially defensively. Curtis Painter will get his first NFL start for the Colts, and I think his teammates rally around him, and they win the game with a late field goal. Colts 27, Buccaneers 24
