One thing that is a guarantee on Sunday is that several players with Indiana ties will win a Super Bowl ring. For some, it could be multiple rings in their career. No one on the Patriots or Giants knows that better than Matt Light.
Light, a former left tackle for the Purdue Boilermakers, can earn his fourth Super Bowl ring today, a feat that has only been accomplished by one other player in Purdue history. Keena Turner, a linebacker for the Boilermakers who was a second round draft pick in the 1980 NFL Draft, played for 11 seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. In that time he won four Super Bowls in 1981, 1984, 1988, and 1989.
Light is joined by fellow Boilermakers Rob Ninkovich and Niko Koutouvides, who are looking for their first career championships. Sergio Brown, who played for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, is also on the Patriots' roster.
For the Giants, James Brewer is in his first year after playing for the Indiana Hoosiers. Justin Tuck also played for Notre Dame, while Mathias Kiwanuka played in high school at Indianapolis Cathedral.
