The Fighting Irish go for their fifth straight Big East win as they head to West Virginia to take on the Mountaineers on Wednesday.
Feb 8, 2012 - The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have been on an absolute tear in the Big East since late January when they became the first team to beat Syracuse in 2011/2012. They've since gotten big wins against Connecticut and Marquette which have pushed them into fourth place in the conference. They can snag their fifth straight conference win and hit an 8-3 record that would put them level with Georgetown as they face the West Virginia Mountaineers Wednesday evening.
On the Irish player's side, watch for freshman Pat Connaughton to try and expand on his monster game against Marquette where he scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Senior Kevin Jones and his 20 PPG average will likely be the player to watch for the Mountaineers.
West Virginia currently sit eighth in the Big East with a 6-5 record, having lost three of their last five. Both of the wins in that span required overtime.
The game will be at WVU Colosseum at 9 PM ET.
